Frame Running

Able2B Frame Running

Thanks to a grant from the BeMoreBailey Charity and links with Momentummobility.co.uk, we have been able to obtain six Frame Runners in different sizes to enable us to offer Frame Running opportunities.

Frame Running is a great way to maintain strength and fitness in a fun and supportive environment.

Training by our expert staff takes place on the Sportspark Norwich Running Track on Thursday evenings and some Sunday mornings. The Frames can also be tried in our gym setting, where our team can check suitability, build confidence, and ensure the right fit for you prior to commencing training sessions.

What is Frame Running?

Frame Running is an adapted sport for individuals who cannot functionally run as it provides complete support in standing similar to a standing frame used in physiotherapy.

The frames have three wheels with the individual supported by a saddle and body plate. The individual propels against the frame using their feet, and steers using the mobility within their hands and/or arms. Frame Running is a very effective way of improving overall fitness, strength and physical and emotional well-being and is also an athletics discipline, governed by England Athletics.

It is particularly suitable for individuals with neuromuscular conditions who struggle with balance and stable weight-bearing but wish to build the strength in their legs. This would include conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s disease, after Head Injury or Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis and many more.
